A PICTURE PERFECT SESSION
Whether you're a natural in front of the camera or a little camera-shy, we want you to feel absolutely amazing during your senior photo session. In this guide, we’ve gathered our top tips to help you shine and make your session fun and relaxed. With these simple ideas, you'll be well-prepared to capture the real, confident you in every shot!
Be Yourself:
Relax and let your natural personality shine through. Rather than trying to mimic a pose from a magazine, focus on being comfortable and genuine. When you're yourself, your confidence comes naturally, making your photos feel authentic and full of character.
Wear clothes you’re comfortable in:
Throughout your photo shoot, you’ll be posing in different ways -- sitting, standing, walking, jumping, etc. If you’re wearing a dress that you’re constantly adjusting because it doesn’t fit right or shoes that pinch your toes, it’ll be difficult for you to relax and really live in the moment. Wear an outfit that you can move comfortably in and that makes you feel good about yourself.
Look your best -- whatever that means for you:
Try to look nice for your senior portraits -- but make sure you still look like you. Dress up a bit, but don’t wear a dress or a suit if it’s something you don’t usually wear. It’s great to put on some makeup to help your features pop in front of the camera, but don’t pile it on if that’s not what you usually do. If you feel your best, you’ll look your best.
Put some thought into your outfits:
Choose clothes that not only make you feel great but also reflect your personal style. Consider selecting a few different outfits to provide variety in your photos. Think about colors that work well with the location and time of day, ensuring a cohesive look throughout your shoot. Don’t wake up on the day of your session and think, “Hmmm…what should I ware for this thing?” (I’m talking to you, boys.)
Bring personal touches:
Think about bringing along a few special items that mean a lot to you—maybe your favorite book, a musical instrument, or some sports gear. These little props can help share your unique story: who you are, what you love doing, and the things you’re amazing at!
Location, location, location!
If you’re a little nervous about spending so much time in front of the camera, choose an environment that makes you feel at home. Pick a photo shoot location that’s significant to you. If you can’t think of a place where you’d like photos, we can suggest some! If you spend 22 hours a day on a skateboard, then let’s take your photos in a skate park. If you swim like a fish, let’s go to a pool. If you are a dancer, let’s find a stage.
